Getting Started

Welcome to Michigan Model Railroader, a blog about HO scale model railroading.

This blog is going to focus on my efforts to get back into the hobby of model railroading, something I was into as a kid, but lost interest in after becoming preoccupied with school, sports, and work. Now that I have some time to invest in a new hobby, this seemed like the perfect fit. I also just recently bought a house and finally have some space, a "man cave", set aside for myself in the basement.

Here is the "man cave" space in it's raw form.
In that space, I plan on starting an HO scale layout loosely based on Michigan railroads dating back to the 1980's as well as those of today. This includes major railroads like CN, CSX, Conrail, Norfolk Southern, BNSF as well as some minor ones like the old Detroit & Mackinac Railway out of Northern Michigan. I have some ideas in mind, but nothing set in stone yet, which is the best part because I have no idea where this project will take me.

So if you're interested in seeing a model railroad go from concept to reality, at least that's the plan in my mind, feel free to stop by for any new updates. By the way, I'm always open to suggestions and ideas, so if you have them be sure to leave a comment below.
